Brief Description

A silver 240 bhp import saloon wrx. Standard except for adjustable shocks and performance bore exhaust.

Reliability

The only problem i experienced over the two years i owned the car was a dead battery. This being the only problem is a testament to Subaru's engineering especially considering my car was probably driven like the driver had sat on a wasp.

Performance

Acceleration was phenomenal. These cars have a much more aggressive power delivery than the newer models. However the car did suffer from the usual turbo lag. Handeling as you might expect from AWD system was superb.

Practicality

Large boot and can fit 5 adults. Plenty of interior cabin space. Little in the way of luxuries, except air/con and electirc widows.

Comfort

Perhaps my car is a bad example. Due to the after market adjustable suspension the car's shocks were stiffened making the ride very hard indeed. The stiff shocks resulted in the car becoming twitchy at high speeds.

Cost

General servicing was fairly resonable and does not need to be serviced as frequently as the evo. However parts such as brake pads and discs are costly. Cambelt changes are also expensive when undertaken by Subaru. Fuel comsumption is poor even when driving carefully. Returns around 23 mpg average and that figure will drop to around 15 when driven hard.

Fantastic car. Pricy to run but will put a smile on your face everytime you turn the key. However look hard for a standard one as you don't know what changes the previous owners have made and who made them.
